Walthamstow Central fight: police called to break up huge riot outside Tube station

imagePolice were called to break up a huge riot outside Walthamstow Central Tube station tonight, as groups of teenagers wrestled in the street.

Photographs shared on social media showed the shocking scenes as officers descended on Hoe Street just after 5pm.

About 200 people were reported to have been involved in the mass brawl, but none of them were seriously injured, police said.

Gavin Rugg, an IT consultant who witnessed the chaos, said he saw about 15 men fighting in Hoe Street, and several other smaller clashes between groups of teenagers nearby.

He told the Standard: “I just came out of Walthamstow Central station and they mentioned there had been a police incident.

“There were some guys wearing hoodies who were facing off with police.

“It looked like they were arresting someone.

“I was surprised – I have only moved to the area a couple of months ago from Stockwell and I have never seen anything like this before.”

A 23-year-old man, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Standard he saw several small groups of youths, aged between 16 to 20 years old, fighting outside the station.

He said: “As I came out of the train station, I usually get a bus, however they had closed off the bus station and in the market area nearby there were about 20 police cars and a few riot vans blocking off the pathway, and surrounding it about 150 people who were involved in an incident which looked like a standoff with the police.”

Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy called for people to stay clear of the area.

She tweeted: “Furious to hear there is a fight outside Walthamstow Central station – will be following up with police but pls stay clear of area for now.”

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said three people had been arrested following the brawl.

He added officers were still at the scene this evening in order to prevent further violence.

In a statement, he said: “Shortly after 5pm, police were called to reports of a large group of youths causing a disturbance in the Hoe Street / Station Approach area of Walthamstow.

“The group, approximately 200 aged in their late teens, were dispersed by around 8.45pm.

“There are no reports of any persons with injuries at this time.

“Officers currently remain in the area to ensure the group remains dispersed.

“Three people have been arrested – one for possession of an offensive weapon, two for affray – and taken into custody.

“An investigation into the circumstances of the incident by Waltham Forest Borough officers is ongoing.”

The fight follows reports of a brawl at McDonald’s in Hoe Street last night.

More than 100 youths were said to have clashed at the fast-food restaurant just after 5pm.

Jennifer Simons, a 25-year-old student who witnessed last night’s fight, said: “I was in my boyfriend’s living room and we heard shouting outside so we went to see what was going on, there was  a huge crowd of people walking down Chingford Road; they weren’t fighting at that time, just walking, running and shouting.

“One of my partner’s flat mates suggested phoning the police but then we saw the blue flashing lights.

“Rows of police officers were making their way towards the crowd, and the crowd noticed them and started getting riled up and they grouped up like a mob, the police stopped advancing but then the crowd started fighting amongst themselves so the police went in to break it up.

“A few people got arrested and the crowd mostly ran away from the police. There were police vans, cars and dogs that continued on down Chingford Road towards Chingford.”

Mike Tyson: Prison Does A Bad Job Rehabilitating Inmates

Mike Tyson

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson gave the keynote address Thursday at a conference on prisoner re-entry, saying that the prison system isn’t doing a good job of rehabilitating inmates and that there needs to be more programs to prevent people from going there in the first place.

Tyson, who has been jailed twice, spoke at the conference at St. Peter’s University in Jersey City.

“There’s no such thing as rehabilitation. Prison is all debilitating. When you go in there, you never come out the same person again,” Tyson said. “This is something a nation of savages would look at as something of a disgrace.”

Tyson spoke about his troubled past but said, “I’m on the course of being the person I want to be. I have dignity. I have self-respect.”

Tyson was jailed in 1992 for rape and went to jail in 1999 on assault charges.

Speaking after Tyson, U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman noted his office’s launch of Project Renew in Newark in which parolees can obtain housing, jobs, education, counseling and legal assistance. They are also held accountable for any new mistakes they may make.

“It’s not enough to provide the right services. We have to provide them in the right place, at the right time,” Fishman said.

He said they are now working on scaling up the program and expanding it to Camden and eventually to Trenton. Fishman, who has sent his fair share of people away to prison, realizes former offenders are at a unique crossroad.

“They are poised either to become law-abiding citizens, contributors to our communities, or to become frequent fliers in the criminal justice system. They need to know that the path of redemption is theirs to choose and they will be supported in that journey and their decision to leave what is familiar and trade it for the prospect of something that’s a little scary but promises a better future,” Fishman said.

The conference was the brainchild of former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey, who is the executive director of the Jersey City Employment and Training Program. McGreevey has been counseling inmates since getting his divinity degree.

Russell Brand goes in on Fox News Who’s More Dangerous?

Fox News really go for it in this video trying their best to attack Russell Brand devoting an entire show to ”attempting’ to tear apart his character on a very personal level.

Russell’s response is excellent and highlights some real issues that we should be thinking about . . . The fact Fox News devote so much time to simply trying to attack Russell Brand is very telling , is this really news?

Aren’t there more important things they can talk about on mainstream media.?

At least in these videos Russell does talk about many issues that affect us all and need our attention so if Fox News is helping bringing attention to these matters through Russell Brand then ironically they are actually achieving some good for a change.

The ongoing media war between Russell Brand and Fox News has been going viral across social media, in this article I tell you why I think he is the best thing to have ever happened to Fox News and I show you every interview and battle over the past year which will allow you to make an informed decision about who is promoting hate and who is promoting oneness and peace. ~ Kasim Khan

YG Hits a Fan From Stage in Edmonton, Canada Concert @ Encore Club (2 Videos)

Footage Ensuing Riots
West Coast Rapper YG concert, Edmonton ( Alberta ). My Krazy Life tour Canada.
Yg concert lasted barely 20 mins then YG attacks a fan from stage.
Fan was angry because YG lost his voice (sore throat) at the very begining of the concert and went backstage.
YG lost his voice two songs into his set. Rather than own up to the fault, he first tried to get his DJ to raise the volume and mask his voice(as you can see in the video playing songs like “we dem boys” he doesn’t even relate to ). When that didn’t work, he resorted to throwing water bottles.

One of his fan was frustrated by his charade (not performing his own songs but instead playing other top songs and dancing around) so he started throwing ice cubes at him. YG scanned the crowed and when he figured out who was it he jumped right onto him from stage and punched the guy.
0:08 YG warned crowd don’t do it(don’t throw the ice cubes).
what else you can say Shit just got real.
after that errbody started tossing bottles or whatever was in their hand(ice, bowls, cans, water etc.)

YG also had fight with 4 guys in parking lot who were trying to break windows of his car.

I didn’t tape it all bc one of my friend fall victim to the flying bottle and blood was all over his face. We were dancing near to the stage and all the flying bottles were coming at us so we thought who cares for a damn video, protect your mf asses first lol.
