Jay Z: I Can Make One Direction’s Harry Styles The Biggest Artist In The World

With a musical mentorship record that includes Kanye West, Rihanna, J. Cole, Jay Z has help turn several artists into platinum selling stars. It appears the Roc Nation boss is setting his eyes on a boy band member from the U.K. as his next protegé.

In an article with the Daily Star Sunday, Jay is quoted speaking about Styles. The 21-year-old vocalist is already a well known performer around the world (he has 26 million Twitter followers), but the Brooklyn born mogul thinks stepping away from 1D will be an important task.

“Harry doesn’t need any help with exposure; everybody in the world knows who he is,” said Jay. “But he does need to make the transition from being part of a group to becoming an individual artist.”

One Direction announced the group is taking a hiatus. However, Styles has not confirmed whether he will release an album as a solo act. If the England native does decide to release a project, Jay believes he can do a lot to enhance Styles’ career.

“I can get him working with the bigger artists, the biggest producers – and have him as the biggest artist in the world within a year,” added Jay.

Those words are similar to what fellow New York rapper 50 Cent said about Styles’ former One Direction partner Zayn Malik. Last year, 50 expressed interest in working with Zayn and connecting him with top Hip Hop artists.

“If Zayn wants a rap career, just because of who he is, he is going to sell records,” said 50. “But if he wants to be credible he has to be with the right people. I’d happily sign him up to my label, mentor him and have him working with the biggest rappers on the planet.”

Funkmaster Flex Releases Second Rant Against Jay Z, “We Not Scared Of You” (AUDIO)

DJ Funkmaster Flex was not done with his verbal attack against Jay Z. Over the weekend the Hot 97 radio personality went in on the Brooklyn emcee once again. After his first rant aimed at Jay’s website Life+Times, Flex’s second comments included more direct shots at the Roc Nation boss.

“In 2015, you are a commercial, corporate rapper that drops a little catchphrase every three months,” said Flex. “There’s nothing wrong with that. I think that’s super dope. Don’t talk to me funny in the text, bruh. I don’t work for you.”

The statement connects to a text Jay supposedly sent to Flex that the DJ posted to his Instagram page. The text read “This is HOV.” The caption for the picture alleged that Jay attempted to call Flex from a private number, and after he was unable to get through he sent the text.

While Flex’s voice was not as aggressive in the follow-up rant and there were not the signature bomb drops throughout, he still made it clear he has issues with Jay for capitalizing his name in the text. Flex also stated that he is not afraid of the multimillionaire mogul.

“We not scared of you. This radio station doesn’t need you or care. Actually, the whole company doesn’t need you. You can’t call the bosses like you do other things,” Flex added. “Stop having people call me. It’s nonsense. I’m not picking up and I don’t have anything to say cause I don’t wanna talk to you. That’s that.”

Flex then warned Jay if he ever sends a subliminal shot at him on a record the result would be a daily radio assault against the rapper. Flex also said Jay needs to understand that he is not the only boss in New York City.

The audio also featured Flex giving compliments to Jay’s business moves and music, but he addressed supposed “manipulation” at Def Jam as well. He even called out Jay for not congratulating J. Cole’s success with 2014 Forest Hills Drive.

“This my city. You ain’t above me bro,” Flex declares.

Flex also went back to Instagram to dispel rumors that Jay was planning to buy Hot 97. He wrote, “Yeah Right! We good over here! They not buying s**t!”

Jay Z Purchases High-End Champagne Company, Ace Of Spades

"Magna Carta Holy Grail" Tour After Party

“All this Ace Of Spades I drink just to p”…purchase?

Today, Soverign Brands announced that it sold it’s interest in Armand de Brignac, better known as Ace of Spades champagne, to a “new company” run by Jay Z, as per a New York Post report. The following is an excerpt from Soverign’s official statement.

We are proud to announce that Sovereign Brands, a New York-based wine and spirits company owned by the Berish family, has sold its interest in the Armand de Brignac (‘Ace of Spades’) Champagne brand to a new company led by the globally renowned Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that even occasionally listens to Jay Z’s music, or reads his several-times-a-month news headlines. He’s been helping to popularize the high-end liquor, which starts at $300 a bottle, since he released his video for Kingdom Come‘s “Show Me What You Got” in 2006. It’s the liquor of choice at several of the venues he owns and is affiliated with, namely the 40/40 club and the luxury suites at The Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets, the NBA team Hov previously owned a percentage of.

The “new company” that Jay will use to house Ace of Spades has yet to be disclosed, but it’s more than likely a division of his quickly growing Roc Nation empire. What began as an ambitious project 6 years ago has become an expansive media management and publishing company, sports agency, with divisions that focus on merchandise, touring, and more. Ace of Spades isn’t Jay’s only current liquor affiliation however. D’USSE, which he famously poured in one of the three Grammys he won at the 2013 award show, has been publicly endorsed by Jay Z for the past two years. He recently opened his verse on Beyonce‘s hit single, “Drunk In Love,” with the words, “That D’USSE is the sh*t, if I D’USSE so myself.”

Kanye West Wanted For Attempted Robbery

Kanye West is being sought for questioning by the Los Angeles Police Department for apparently an attempted robbery and assault on a paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport that was caught on tape.

The mega star rapper was leaving the airport when a large amount of paparazzi’s were photographing him and asking him “Why can’t we talk to you”. After enough of the badgering, Kanye lost his temper and charged one of the paparazzi and pinned him against a taxi attempting to take the photographers camera.

After a brief scuffle the assault was broken up by what appears to be a police officer, letting West get into his awaiting Mercedes-Benz as the photographer somewhat limps/runs off.

The photographer was later taken to the hospital for unspecified injuries.

According to TMZ, the police are filing the case as an attempted robbery charge, which is a felony in the state of California.

Kanye was recently captured on video with another paparazzi ranting about his privacy when the photographer told him he loved him. Kanye began to lose his cool saying “I appreciate that but don’t talk but don’t talk to me. I don’t want to hear paparazzi talk to me or anybody I know. And tell everybody never talk to anyone that anyone knows. Don’t talk to themselves. Don’t talk ever again.” At this point and time there is no connection between the two paparazzi’s.

The Los Angeles Airport Police later released a statement in regards to the matter saying:

“Today at approximately 2:00 p.m., at the Tom Bradley International Terminal (on the arrival level curbside), Los Angeles Airport Police officers were flagged down by a citizen (photographer) who alleged that he was taking pictures of an individual when he was battered by the subject. The alleged subject was not at the location nor was he observed by officers at the scene. LAFD was notified, responded to the location and transported the victim to a local hospital for medical attention. A police report was taken by the Los Angeles Police Department and the investigation is ongoing.”
