Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released on Windows PC and Xbox One, in addition to PlayStation 4, this fall, publisher Rockstar Games announced today with a trailer.
Sony Computer Entertainment president and group CEO Andrew House announced the PS4 version during Sony’s E3 2014 press briefing today.
Rockstar originally launched Grand Theft Auto 5 on PS3 and Xbox 360 last September, and the company has shipped more than 33 million units of those versions. Last month, parent company Take-Two Interactive indicated that Rockstar’s first PS4 and Xbox One project would be available before April 2015.
Update: The ports will offer visual and technical improvements such as “increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic and enhanced resolutions,” reads a post on the Rockstar Newswire.
Rockstar also clarified that the transfer of data from the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to PC, PS4 or Xbox One applies only to characters and progress in Grand Theft Auto Online. (That data is saved in the cloud in the Rockstar Social Club.) We’ve edited the story to reflect this.
In addition, all of the new GTA Online content that has been created and released since launch — weapons, vehicles, properties, customizations and Jobs — will be available in the PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions. And the PC version will exclusively include a video editor to allow players to put together their own clips of in-game action.
