See 5 minutes of the ‘Simpsons’-'Family Guy’ crossover episode

If you’ve always wondered what would happen if Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson hung out at a bar while Bart and Stewie made prank phone calls, Family Guy is about to satisfy your crossover craving. In the Sept. 28 season premiere, “The Simpsons Guy,”the albino Griffins wind up by accident in Springfield, where they are greeted warmly by the hepatits-y Simpsons. But a fast friendship christened with delicious doughnuts may be forever destroyed by an argument over Pawtucket Patriot Ale and Duff Beer, which leads to an epic chicken fight.

To see the collision of these two animated worlds—plus a cameo by Bob from Bob’s Burgers—check out nearly five minutes of footage from the double-sized episode, which was screened on Saturday during the Family Guy panel at Comic-Con.

The Simpsons-Family Guy mash-up wasn’t the only upcoming episode teased during the panel. Of note, the Christmas installment will feature the return of Jesus to Quahog. “Peter and the guys discover that Jesus is a virgin, so they decide to go about helping him get laid,” hinted executive producer Steve Callaghan. (“We’re all going to hell,” quipped Mike Henry in the voice of Cleveland.) Liam Neeson will play himself in a different episode: Every time Peter gets drunk he says he can beat up the badass movie star, so the guys call him on his bluff and arrange for him to meet Neeson, who “was very willing to poke fun at himself,” said executive producer Rich Appel. (Other guest-stars this season include Julie Bowen, Jeff Garlin, Allison Janney, Lea Thompson, and Joe Buck.) The new season will also feature Meg getting recruited to be a foot-fetish model, Stewie becoming pregnant with Brian’s baby, and Chris about to fail a history test when “Brian and Stewie take him on kind of a Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure through time,” said Seth Green, a.k.a. voice of Chris.

And, yes, sometime in the future, the Griffins may live long and prosper: Callaghan noted that series creator Seth McFarlane “has talked from time to time of wanting to do a similar treatment” with the Star Trek films as they did with their Star Wars trilogy of parodies, including “Blue Harvest.

As for those waiting for Family Guy not to spoof a movie but to make their own, well, you might have to wait a little — or a lot — longer. When a fan asked about that possibility during the Q&A session, director Peter Shin replied, “We kind of started… pre-work on it a couple years back, but I think it’s on hold right now because Seth is filming Ted 2. But I think maybe in the future it might happen.” Callaghan added that it was hard to find the time to make a movie while they were busy working on the show, but vowed: “Someday we will make that happen.”

Former Gangster Disciples Member Harold “Noonie” Ward Releases New Book

Harold “Noonie” Ward was once a high-ranking member of the Gangster Disciples, but the Chicago native turned his life around and started putting his energy into stopping the violence in his hometown. Noonie is also taking on the role of author with his new book Gangstanomics.

Through Gangstanomics, Noonie explores the parallels between the street world and the corporate world and explains how the two segments of society cannot exist without the other. Two of Hip Hop’s most successful moguls contributed to the book as well. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson provides the foreword. Sean “Diddy” Combs wrote the afterward.

Consumers that attend Gangstanomics book signing events will also have the opportunity to purchase the new single “Money In Your Hands” featuring Kanye West, Trey Songz, Twista, and Dwele.

Noonie is also currently running to be a state representative in Illinois as an independent candidate. His campaign is centered around reducing the violence in Chicago.

50 Cent Launches The “Formula 50″ Workout

Do you have 6 weeks to get fit? If you do, then Hip Hop mogul Curtis Jackson, aka 50 Cent, says he can help you make it happen.

First albums, movies, vitamin water, energy drinks, books and a clothing line. Now, the popular rapper has a “Formula 50″ workout video series, sharing his workout secrets with the world.

The award-winning artist, who’s just about always maintained a lean and muscular look, guarantees results, with his slogan that, “You’ll see your body improve by 50 percent.”

His fat burning cardio routine consists of 40 minutes of high intensity interval training (HIIT). HIIT utilizes repetitions to the point of muscular failure by alternating short bursts of high intensity work with periods of lower intensity intervals of active recovery. This process jumpstarts the metabolism, making it one of the fastest ways to reduce body fat. The American Council on Exercise recommends no more than two days of HIIT training per week.

Here’s a sample of 50′s weekly routine:

Monday: Chest, Shoulders, Triceps

Tuesday: Back, Biceps

Wednesday: Lower Body, HIIT Cardio

Thursday: Chest, Shoulders, Triceps

Friday: Back, Biceps

Saturday: Lower Body, HIIT Cardio

Sunday: Off

Cardio is also an important part of 50 Cent’s routine, more often than not he begins the day with intervals on the treadmill before hitting the weights.

RJ Reynolds told to pay wife of cancer victim $23.6bn

A US court has ordered the country’s second largest cigarette company to pay $23.6 billion (£13.8bn) to the wife of a smoker who died of lung cancer.

RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company was hit with the punitive fine in addition to $16.8m (£9.8m) in compensatory damages.

Cynthia Robinson took action against the firm in 2008, seeking compensation for her husband’s death in 1996.

An official at the company said the court’s verdict was “far beyond the realm of reasonableness and fairness”.

During the four-week trial, lawyers for Ms Robinson argued that RJ Reynolds was negligent in informing consumers of the dangers of consuming tobacco.

This negligence, the lawyers said, led to her husband Michael Johnson Sr contracting lung cancer from smoking after becoming “addicted” and failing multiple attempts to quit.

‘A message for tobacco firms’

“RJ Reynolds took a calculated risk by manufacturing cigarettes and selling them to consumers without properly informing them of the hazards,” Ms Robinson’s lawyer Willie Gary said.

“We hope that this verdict will send a message to RJ Reynolds and other big tobacco companies that will force them to stop putting the lives of innocent people in jeopardy,” he added.

RJ Reynolds plans to appeal against the court’s decision, vice president and assistant general counsel Jeffery Raborn said in a statement.

“This verdict goes far beyond the realm of reasonableness and fairness, and is completely inconsistent with the evidence presented,” Mr Raborn said.

The punitive damages awarded to Ms Robinson were said to be the largest of any individual case stemming from a class action lawsuit filed in Florida.

Several similar cases have resulted in smaller payouts after the state’s highest court ruled that smokers and their families only had to prove addiction and that smoking caused their illness.

Historic basketball win for India over China at 5th FIBA Asia Cup

India beat China for the first time ever

13th of July, 2014 – a date that will be remembered for a long time to come for the heroics Indian national basketball team as they beat all the odds to claim a sensational win against China at the 5th FIBA Asia Cup.

Led by head coach Scott Flemming, the Indian managed to upset the World No.12 Chinese side 65-58 to register the country’s biggest competitive victory in their 78-year basketball history.

China, also the host nation for this edition of the Asia Cup, were clear favourites at the start of the game. However, a determined effort from the Indian side forced the Chinese to concede 23 turnovers in the game.

The likes of Amjyot Singh, Pratham Singh with 13 points each, and captain Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, who another 12 points, were the stars of the show as they put every bit of effort going forward and holding the play at the back.

While the game looked set for a close finish at the end of the 3rd quarter with India ahead 50-48, it was the Chinese crop that couldn’t handle the pressure in the last few minutes of the match. With some dubious turnovers and sloppy freethrows, the did make it easier for the Indian side to finish the game with a flourish.

Coach Flemming praises the Indian performance

Speaking to the Eklavyas, Indian coach Scott Flemming lauded the way his side approached the game. “I thought our defense was solid. We didn’t shoot well from three-point line and we didn’t shoot well from the free-throw line, but that shows we did the other things well.

“We made clutch plays when we needed them. The biggest things is that we competed in every possession,” he said.

Flemming added, “I’m so happy for these players. And I’m so happy for the country of India. I’ve coached for 32 years in the USA, and the only reason I came here – win or lose – was to make a difference in the lives of these players.”

The win gives India a very strong chance to qualify for the quarterfinals; if they manage to defeat Indonesia tomorrow, they will go through.

Final Score: India beat China 65-58 (24-11, 9-20, 15-19, 17-8)
